In his lecture, James H. Smith explores the everyday lives and working conditions of Congolese miners. He discusses the challenges they face and how they themselves understand issues such as the global trade in natural resources, regulations surrounding “conflict-free” minerals and the recurring outbreaks of violence.

The exhibition “We Are Here” focuses on the lives of LGBTQI+ people. In the room “Chosen Family” we will feature a bookshelf filled with books that have played an important role in their lives. We are looking not only for books with queer stories, but also for books that held personal significance at a particular moment in someone’s life.
Queer stories about claiming space and coming home
26.02 to 30.08.2027 The exhibition explores what it means to live together and meet one another. What it means to be allowed to truly be yourself, in your own body, in your relationships with others, in public, and behind closed doors. An exhibition that shows how these themes, even today, are not publicly accepted or accessible for everyone.
An object leaves on a trip to another museum, another undergoes research. Or a special piece is recognised as a Flemish Masterpiece. Or our collection expands.
The MAS' largest and most impressive collection pieces can be seen on the Scheldt quays. And just in front of the MAS, you almost bump into the showpiece of our collection.
The exhibition 'L’héritage sacré des Andes' in Draguignan (France) offers an overview of three thousand years of Andean history, from the Chavín culture to the Inca civilization. More than 250 ritual objects have been selected, including four pieces from the Paul and Dora Janssen-Arts collection.
