Ahopsan

Photographer Mark De Fraeye and his wife donated some of their photo series to the MAS. De Fraeye's series 'Ahopsan Forest' is a visual manifesto for the preservation of the forest.

New admission prices

Starting from 30.10.2021

As of October 30, 2021, the price of admission to the MAS will change. We will bring it in line with those of domestic and foreign museums. At the same time, the discount policy will be adjusted and become more transparent.

A look at research

The MAS preserves culturally and historically sensitive Congolese heritage that today numbers nearly 5,000 cultural objects. MAS staff, together with Congolese colleagues, are investigating the circumstances under which this collection disappeared from Congo. The first results of the study will be on display in the Visible Storage.

The Antarctic today

The exhibition also tells the story of Antarctica today. You will find out how scientists are still conducting groundbreaking scientific research there. This topical part of the exhibition was created in collaboration with the International Polar Foundation.

In super-diverse Antwerp, you will find hairstyles and hair traditions of all colours and shapes. The hair salons where it all happens are equally diverse. The new photo exhibition 'The Salon' gives you a taste of the diversity of hair salons and cuts.  

Re:thinking the body

MAS X Antwerp Queer Arts Festival

In a workshop, visual artist Laura Boser uses improvisation and listening exercises to challenge you to look at the hierarchy of your body parts differently. 

MAS-collection on the Belgian coast

The NAVIGO Fisheries Museum in Oostduinkerke reopened its doors on 7 September 2024. The MAS gave some remarkable pieces on loan.
