African masterpiece at BRUSK

The exhibition “Breedbeeld” in the new art hall sheds new light on Bruges as a metropolis from 900 to 1550. MAS contributes to this prestigious inaugural BRUSK exhibition with a unique ivory masterpiece from the African collection, as well as a cast of a 9th‑century stern ornament.

The exhibition 'Cool Japan' takes you on a whirlwind tour of the global fascination for Japanese visual culture. With unique historical pieces, the MAS shows how Japanese icons such as Hello Kitty, Zelda and Sailor Moon are all part of a long tradition and how both new and old Japanese art continues to inspire the world.

Recipes from the 16e century

Viki Geunes, chef of the famous restaurant Zilte, selected four recipes from around 1600 from the Cockbouck and came up with a contemporary version. You'll find them in the exhibition, but also here online.
