The Salon

In super-diverse Antwerp, you will find hairstyles and hair traditions of all colours and shapes. The hair salons where it all happens are equally diverse. The new photo exhibition 'The Salon' gives you a taste of the diversity of hair salons and cuts. From 25 October 2024 on display in the boulevard (free entry).  

The Antarctic today

The exhibition also tells the story of Antarctica today. You will find out how scientists are still conducting groundbreaking scientific research there. This topical part of the exhibition was created in collaboration with the International Polar Foundation.

A look at research

The MAS preserves culturally and historically sensitive Congolese heritage that today numbers nearly 5,000 cultural objects. MAS staff, together with Congolese colleagues, are investigating the circumstances under which this collection disappeared from Congo. The first results of the study will be on display in the Visible Storage.

Mystical Marriage of Christ

The MAS collection contains a number of beautiful stained-glass windows from the 15th, 16th and 17th centuries. Two of the rare intact examples are listed as Flemish masterpieces: rather large stained-glass windows from around 1600 depicting the Mystical Marriage of Christ.

Belgica's polar pioneers

Together with a guide, you will depart on the Belgica, heading for Antarctica. During the tour, you will get to know the research ship's very young crew and how they are forced to spend the winter in the Antarctic. You will also reflect on climate warming on the continent today.

The Virgin of Consolation

New masterpiece by James Ensor in the expo

Recently, the Flemish Community acquired 'The Virgin of Consolation' by James Ensor. The painting had been on the 'Flemish Masterpieces' list since 2007. You can see the painting until 25 February in the 'Rare & Indispensable' exhibition. After that, it will be given into long-term loan at the MSK in Ghent.

Belgica's polar pioneers

From 21 June, come and meet the expedition members of the Belgica. Some 125 years ago, they set off from Antwerp to the last blind spot on the world map: Antarctica. The expedition got stuck in the polar ice and made history as a result. Learn how the men managed to survive, who followed in their footsteps, and what Antarctica is like today.

Brabofountain to museum DIVA

This unique silver showpiece is one of the permanent loans to DIVA. It is a copy of the Brabofountain in Antwerp's Grote Markt. The bronze statues on a rock of basalt stones were executed in silver and set on a rock of amethyst.
