To the Antarctic

Belgica's polar pioneers

A guide takes you on an adventure. You set off with the famous research ship Belgica from Antwerp. The expedition heads for the sixth and still unknown continent, Antarctica. The international but very young crew, led by Adrien de Gerlache, will become the first to spend an unplanned winter in the Antarctic. When the polar winter sets in, the ship gets stuck in the pack ice.

In the second part of the expo, you also reflect on that beautiful area today, where global warming is very much felt.
