The Paul and Dora Janssen-Arts collection is a world-famous collection of artefacts from the Americas before Columbus. It illustrates like no other the extraordinary link between life and death in pre-Columbian cultures.
For the exhibition “Enchantd by gold” the MAS, in collaboration with the Flemish Community, lent eight gold objects, all from the Paul & Dora Janssen-Arts collection. The expo highlights the role of gold in different cultures around the world.
Together with a guide you'll discover the world famous collection of Paul & Dora Janssen-Arts. This collection consists of more than 400 pre-Columbian objects in gold, jade, stone, textiles and shell.
The MAS focuses on a piece of city history from the Second World War. In the pavilion, you can see where V-bombs fell on Antwerp and the scars they have left behind, by means of photographs, first-person testimonies and maps. You can even see a real V1-bomb from the MAS collection.
CLOSED - The exhibition immersed the visitor in the ideas of the world famous architect Le Corbusier (1887-1965), but did also let them saunter through the streets of Chandigarh and gave them a look behind Linkeroever’s façades.
500,000 exhibits offer a varied perspective on the city and its age-old contacts with the world. Some of them are displayed in permanent and temporary exhibitions, but most are kept in storage.
