CLOSED - Everyone knows them: the baker, the butcher, the greengrocer, the grocer round the corner. You drop in and do your shopping. There’s lots to tell about: the shopkeepers, the customers, the merchandise and of course the shops themselves. - CLOSED - In 1897 the Belgica set off from Antwerp to the last blind spot on the world map: Antarctica. The expedition got stuck in the polar ice and made history as a result. The expo showed how the men managed to survive, who followed in their footsteps, and what Antarctica is like today.
The 54 preserved miniatures in this series together form a visual guide for meditation on a mandala. This is a depiction of the cosmos, in this case with Sarvavid Vairocana – the most important of the five heavenly or dhyani Buddhas.
