Like previous years, in 2020 the MAS has a lot to offer in 2020 with impressive Congolese art, a V-bomb in the pavilion, boats in the boulevard and a new interpretation of the viewing depot.

A world famous collection that tells us about the extraordinary relationship between man and the world of gods, ancestors and spirits in America before the conquest by the Europeans.

Inca's

The exhibition 'L’héritage sacré des Andes' in Draguignan (France) offers an overview of three thousand years of Andean history, from the Chavín culture to the Inca civilization. More than 250 ritual objects have been selected, including four pieces from the Paul and Dora Janssen-Arts collection. 

100 x Congo

A century of Congolese art in Antwerp

100 X Congo features one hundred highlights. What stories are hidden behind the objects? How did they end up here? What did they mean to Congolese peoples?

Food & beverages

The MAS is not only a museum, it's also a unique location for a picnic, it offers a cosy museum café at the foot of the MAS as well as a gourmet restaurant on the top floor.

Collection news

An object leaves on a trip to another museum, another undergoes research. Or a special piece is recognised as a Flemish Masterpiece. Or our collection expands.

19th century dollhouse

In preparation for the family exhibition Anybody home?, the MAS had a 19th-century wooden dollhouse restored. The house and its furnishings were carefully refurbished.

Saluting Admiral Couple

At the request of the city of Antwerp, the Antwerp artist Guillaume Bijl created the artwork Saluting Admiral Couple for the fifth anniversary of the MAS. The work gives the monumental building a playful and surprising touch.

The adventure of Irène Bobelijn

The stories of both the Bobelijn family and the trunk symbolise the journey millions of Europeans made to the USA.
