A remarkable collection

FREE ENTRANCE | Maria Nijs assembled 200 precious dolls, made in Europe between 1830 and 1930. From her remarkable collection, MAS acquired eleven of these dolls. A painting of Maria with her favorite dolls, created by her father, is also part of the MAS collection. The 11 dolls, together with the painting, can be admired in the Visible Storage starting June 9.

 

New acquisitions on the seventh floor in the MAS

Jan Cox and Daniel von Weinberger
The permanent exhibition 'Life and Death. Gods and Mankind' shares ideas about life and death in different cultures and ideologies. New acquisitions by Jan Cox represent the secular humanism theme. The theme Judaism is given a new interpretation with an installation by Daniel von Weinberger.

19th century dollhouse

In preparation for the family exhibition Anybody home?, the MAS had a 19th-century wooden dollhouse restored. The house and its furnishings were carefully refurbished.

The exhibition 'L’héritage sacré des Andes' in Draguignan (France) offers an overview of three thousand years of Andean history, from the Chavín culture to the Inca civilization. More than 250 ritual objects have been selected, including four pieces from the Paul and Dora Janssen-Arts collection.

Guild chain of a Sint-Jorisgilde

This necklace, a guild chain, comes from a German or northern Dutch marksmen's guild with St George as its patron saint. It belongs to the so-called guild silver, with objects from the guilds' environment.

Cane and pinfire pistol

The exhibition “Colonialisme. Une Suisse impliquée” is on view at the Château de Prangins (National Museum of Switzerland) through October 11, 2026. For this exhibition, the MAS loaned a cane (made in Kalimantan) and a European-made pistol.
