CLOSED | The MAS preserves culturally and historically sensitive Congolese heritage that numbers nearly 5,000 cultural objects. MAS staff, together with Congolese colleagues, investigated the circumstances under which this collection disappeared from Congo. The first results of the study were on display in the Visible Storage.

V-bombs in Antwerp, 1944-1945

The MAS focuses on a piece of city history from the Second World War. In the pavilion, you can see where V-bombs fell on Antwerp and the scars they have left behind, by means of photographs, first-person testimonies and maps. You can even see a real V1-bomb from the MAS collection.

Universal Tongue

CLOSED | Anouk Kruithof showed that dance is a universal language in different (sub)cultures. You walked through a rousing video installation featuring some 1,000 dance styles from around the world. A four-hour film. 

Create a new work of art by sewing

Open call: are you a member of Belgium's queer community with a migration background and would you like to create a collective textile art piece that will be part of the new MAS exhibition “Among us”?  If so, join a 2-day sewing workshop with Ukrainian artist Anton Shebetko.

Body Art

CLOSED - With “Body Art” the MAS has developed a varied exhibition about forms of body adornment, from make-up and tattoos to scarification and surgical changes, throughout the centuries and in different cultures. The main question in this exhibition was “Why do people alter their body?”
