CLOSED - The exhibition ‘Buddha & Mind’ at the MAS was in line with our need to escape from the daily hustle and frequent stressful moments. A unique set of minature Buddhist paintings took you through the process of meditation.
CLOSED - The exhibition ‘City Photographer’ brought Antwerp's many faces to the MAS Boulevard from 25 April 2017. Fifteen city photographers, chosen between 2014 and 2017, supplied a diverse range of photos. They created an unprecedented love letter to the city in all its manifestations.
CLOSED | Anouk Kruithof showed that dance is a universal language in different (sub)cultures. You walked through a rousing video installation featuring some 1,000 dance styles from around the world. A four-hour film.
CLOSED | The MAS preserves culturally and historically sensitive Congolese heritage that numbers nearly 5,000 cultural objects. MAS staff, together with Congolese colleagues, investigated the circumstances under which this collection disappeared from Congo. The first results of the study were on display in the Visible Storage.
As part of ‘Antwerp Baroque 2018: Rubens as an inspiration’, MAS welcomed the photographer and artist Athos Burez. With 30 images and installations, he shared his own unique and contemporary view on different genres from the style period: still lifes, portraits, landscapes and interiors.
Water-rAnt is assembling one hundred and fifteen authentic ships from Antwerp, the harbour and the Scheldt river's delta. The exhibition ‘100 x Congo’ features one hundred unique highlights from our Congolese collection. What stories are hidden behind the objects? How did they end up here? What did they mean to Congolese peoples? And what about the African presence in Antwerp?
