What we preserve

The MAS collection consists of more than 500,000 objects about art, cultural traditions and history of the city and port of Antwerp. But also of Europe, Asia, Africa, America and Oceania.

The Antarctic today

The exhibition also tells the story of Antarctica today. You will find out how scientists are still conducting groundbreaking scientific research there. This topical part of the exhibition was created in collaboration with the International Polar Foundation.

Objects on the move

Many museums in Belgium and abroad are eager to borrow works from the MAS. You may come across pieces from the MAS collection at exhibitions all over the world. Would you like to borrow an artefact for your own exhibition?

The MAS lends its collection

We are happy to lend our collection to make it known to a wider audience, to encourage new research on the collection and to foster the connection with the heritage community.

The Salon

From 25 October 2024 on display in the boulevard (free entry)

In super-diverse Antwerp, you will find hairstyles and hair traditions of all colours and shapes. The hair salons where it all happens are equally diverse. The new photo exhibition 'The Salon' gives you a taste of the diversity of hair salons and cuts.

Pop-up tattoo shop in “Body Art” exhibition

During the “Body Art” exhibition, you can see tattoo artists at work in a real tattoo shop or get your own exclusive tattoo.

MAS[KED] is back!

We will make a come-back on 29 October 2015. The MAS will transform the museum into one big masked dance floor for the fourth time!
