The MAS lends its collection

The MAS | Museum aan de Stroom believes it is important that as many people as possible can enjoy its rich collection. Therefore, we have a generous loan policy for lending out objects from the collection in Belgium and abroad.

We are happy to lend the collection to make it known to a wider audience, to encourage new research on the collection and to foster the connection with the heritage community. Institutions that are sufficiently organised to ensure safe object management, that can guarantee appropriate conservation conditions and that are publicly accessible can apply for loans.

Modalities

We do not charge administrative or loan fees. However, we may pass on to the borrower costs associated with the loan, such as conservation or restoration treatments, mounting, framing, photography, insurance, packing and handling, transport, couriers and any interim condition checks. We will inform you of these costs in advance. In the event of a cancellation, we will recover all costs already incurred from the loan applicant.

Requesting a loan

The MAS prefers fully digital correspondence. Are you organizing an exhibition and would you like to borrow museum objects? Please send an e-mail to Director Lies Buyse at the following address: mas@antwerpen.be, at least six months before the opening date of your exhibition, and enclose the final loan selection, your exhibition concept and a facility report.

The MAS-registrar for outgoing loans will then send you a document with the general conditions and an application form.

In addition to temporary exhibitions, we also grant loans for (semi-)permanent exhibitions for a maximum period of five years. This can be extended by mutual agreement. For travelling exhibitions, the borrower must submit a new loan request for each venue.

After approval of your request, a loan agreement will be drawn up.
