Discover Antwerp’s heritage

Mention of heritage in Antwerp immediately puts us in mind of the cathedral or a painting by Rubens. But the Reuzenstoet (Giants’ Parade) or an ancient tree are also part of our heritage, and the same is true of everything we have built up over the centuries in our society.

Antwerp has over a hundred heritage collections across its nine districts. They include well-known names such as the Museum Plantin-Moretus and the Royal Museum of Fine Arts, but also heritage associations such as De Poesje in Sint-Andries, the local history associations of Merksem and Deurne, the treasures kept in Saint Paul’s Church and the Dutch Synagogue.

The MAS has brought these collections together in the Antwerp Collection network, which provides an overview of the varied range of heritage for every Antwerper.
