Discover the collection

Antwerp is a port city where the world has been mooring at the docks for centuries. The MAS collection is the place where city and world meet. 500,000 exhibits offer a varied perspective on the city and its age-old contacts with the world. Some of them are displayed in permanent and temporary exhibitions, but most are kept in storage. In the Visible Storage area, the MAS lifts a corner of the veil. For the really inquisitive, the MAS also has its entire collection on display online.

Call for books

Help us fill a bookshelf in the expo "We are here"
The exhibition “We Are Here” focuses on the lives of LGBTQI+ people. In the room “Chosen Family” we will feature a bookshelf filled with books that have played an important role in their lives. We are looking not only for books with queer stories, but also for books that held personal significance at a particular moment in someone’s life.

We are here

Queer stories about claiming space and coming home

26.02 to 30.08.2027
The exhibition explores what it means to live together and meet one another. What it means to be allowed to truly be yourself, in your own body, in your relationships with others, in public, and behind closed doors. An exhibition that shows how these themes, even today, are not publicly accepted or accessible for everyone.

The corner shop: Merksem - Antwerp’s local shops from 1950 to the present

23.03.2013 - 03.06.2013
CLOSED - Everyone knows them: the baker, the butcher, the greengrocer, the grocer round the corner. You drop in and do your shopping. There’s lots to tell about: the shopkeepers, the customers, the merchandise and of course the shops themselves. But you can saw for yourself in this exhibition, in the neighbourhoods where the stories were collected.
