AThe opening weekend of ‘Antwerp Baroque 2018. Rubens inspires’ kicks off on the 1st of June! Visit the new expositions ‘Michaelina’, 'Celebration!' and the solo exhibition of photographer Athos Burez.
The Eilandje was the place where people gathered on their way to the New World. The magnificent Red Star Line steamers moored on the quay just before the bend in the Scheldt River. When the steam whistle announced an impending departure, the quay swarmed with activity. The Eilandje is currently a sought after place in the city.
The MAS collection comprises approximately 2,400 objects related to the poesjenelle tradition, originating from the former Folklore Museum: rod puppets, stage props, signs, theatre programmes and photographs. We also have rod puppets from other theatre traditions and a number of hand puppets.
